Spend two weeks combining hands-on conservation, nocturnal fieldwork and specialist learning. A key highlight is the plan to immobilisation and GPS collar one hyena, contributing to ongoing research into its movements and behaviour. Participants may also assist with setting up call-in sites and collecting biological data as opportunities arise.

What to Expect

• Collar one hyena - The primary objective of this mission is witness the conservation operation to safely fit a GPS collar, supporting ongoing monitoring and research.

• Join nocturnal fieldwork - Assist with setting up call-in sites and supporting field operations after dark, when hyenas are most active.

• Collect biological data - Gain insight into how researchers gather information during wildlife conservation operations.

• Explore the hyena world - Take part in specialist lessons covering hyena ecology, behaviour, communication, intelligence, social structures and conservation challenges.

• Understand the research process - Daytime hours are used for rest, equipment preparation, data entry and team briefings, providing an authentic insight into field research.

Some of our trips require a minimum number of participants to run. In the unlikely event the minimum isn’t met, we’ll let you know no later than 60 days before departure.
