Immersive Veterinary Experience

Step directly into the heart of a working wildlife hospital, where every day brings new challenges, urgent cases, and unforgettable learning experiences.

No two days are ever the same. You may begin with routine health checks on resident animals and end assisting in a critical rescue intake or emergency treatment.

Your experience may include:

  • Assisting with wildlife health examinations and daily veterinary rounds

  • Supporting medical treatments, wound care, and rehabilitation plans

  • Observing and assisting with surgeries and clinical procedures (where appropriate)

  • Responding to wildlife rescue intakes and emergency admissions

  • Monitoring patient recovery and behavioural welfare assessments

  • Assisting with diagnostic work, laboratory samples, and clinical testing

  • Updating medical records and supporting hospital systems (including ZIMS)

  • Working alongside the husbandry team to understand diet, enrichment, and species-specific care

You will work closely with both international and local veterinarians, gaining insight into real-world conservation medicine while supporting the growth of local veterinary expertise. Some days, local vets lead clinical care — offering a unique opportunity to learn adaptability, communication, and teamwork in a changing clinical environment.

This is immersive, hands-on wildlife medicine at its most authentic - fast-paced, unpredictable, and deeply rewarding.
